Who we are

CareerHawk is built and run by Daud Samim, an independent developer. Questions about this policy or your data go to daudisam007@gmail.com.

This website

careerhawk.info is a static website. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Like any website, our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs of requests, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.

The website has no forms and collects nothing you type.

Everything below describes the CareerHawk app.

Using CareerHawk without an account

You can browse, search, save and track jobs without creating an account or giving us any personal information.

  • Your technologies. The technologies you pick are kept on your phone. To score jobs for you, the app sends that list (for example “React, Python”) with each jobs request. We don’t save it in our database and it isn’t linked to any account. Like any request, it can appear briefly in our host’s technical logs.
  • Saved and applied jobs. As a guest, the jobs you save or mark as applied, and any notes you add, stay on your phone only. If you later create an account, they move into it.

What we collect if you create an account

  • Your account: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash, never in readable form. We email you a code to confirm your address and, if you ask, to reset your password.
  • Your profile: what you enter or confirm: name, phone number, city and country, LinkedIn, GitHub and portfolio links, current job title and company, education, tech stack and years of experience.
  • Job preferences: roles you’re targeting, whether you’re authorised to work and need visa sponsorship, a monthly salary range, notice period, remote or relocation preference, and time zone.
  • Optional personal details (each can be skipped): gender, race or ethnicity, Hispanic or Latino origin, veteran status, disability status, pronouns, whether you’re 18 or over, English level, how you usually find jobs, and any notes you add. Every one of these can be skipped, and the demographic questions also offer “Prefer not to answer”. They’re stored with your profile so applications can answer them the way you chose; they aren’t used to rank jobs.
  • Your plan: which auto-apply plan you’re on, when it renews, and how many applications you’ve used in the current period. Apple handles the payment; we receive a signed record of the purchase from Apple, never your card details.
  • Saved and applied jobs: the jobs you save or mark as applied, with the date, the status you set (such as “Interviewing”) and any notes you write, including applications CareerHawk sent for you.
  • Your résumé: if you choose to upload one, the PDF or Word file is stored on our server with your account. Uploading is optional unless you use auto-apply.

How we use it

  • To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
  • To score job listings against your tech stack and show you the best matches.
  • To keep your saved jobs and your application tracker.
  • To show your details back to you on your profile, where you can change them.
  • To fill in and submit job applications on your behalf, only when you start auto-apply (see below).

We don’t use your data for advertising, don’t sell it, and don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing. The app shows no ads, doesn’t read your device’s advertising identifier, and doesn’t track you across other companies’ apps or websites. It doesn’t access your device’s location; your city is only what you type. To understand how the app is used and which of our own ads lead to installs, it uses Google Analytics for Firebase, described below.

App statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase)

The app includes Google Analytics for Firebase. It sends Google:

  • A random ID for this installation of the app and Apple’s identifier for apps from the same developer (IDFV), which is not shared with other companies’ apps.
  • Device and app details: device model, iOS version, app version, language and approximate country or region (worked out from your IP address, which Google doesn’t store).
  • Usage events: when the app is first opened, sessions and how long they last, which screens are viewed, and App Store purchases (the plan and price, never payment details).

It does not receive your name, email address, profile, answers, résumé or the jobs you look at, and it can’t read your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA): the app never asks for permission to track you, so iOS doesn’t give it out. Ad personalisation is switched off, so this data isn’t used to build advertising audiences or to show you ads.

We use it to count installs, see which parts of the app are used, and measure how well our own app-install campaigns on Google Ads perform. Google Ads receives totals, such as how many installs a campaign led to, partly through Apple’s privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork. Google handles this data as our service provider under its terms; event-level data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics (two months by default).

Auto-apply

Only when you ask for it. Auto-apply runs in two ways. On the free plan, nothing happens until you tap Try it free on the Apply tab and confirm. On a paid plan, applications start right after your purchase and then continue about once a day for as long as the subscription is active; subscribing is how you ask for that, and the Apply tab says so before you buy. Either way, CareerHawk picks the jobs that best match your profile and submits applications to those employers as you, using your profile answers and your résumé. Each employer receives the details a normal application would: your name, contact details, résumé, work-authorisation and other answers, and any optional details you chose to give. Every application that was sent is listed on the Apply tab and under My Jobs → Applied, with a picture of the completed form. Applications already sent can’t be recalled.

Applications go through the public application form each employer publishes to receive candidates, the same form you would use yourself. CareerHawk doesn’t sign in to any account on your behalf and doesn’t solve or get around captchas; a form that needs a captcha or a code emailed to you is skipped. To stop paid applications, cancel the subscription with Apple (see below); applications stop at the end of the period you’ve paid for. Applications are filled in on a server we operate with Hetzner (Germany). Employers handle your application under their own privacy policies.

Subscriptions and payment

Auto-apply plans are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through the App Store:

  • Go Mini, up to 50 applications a week, renews weekly.
  • Go, up to 300 applications a month; Plus, up to 600 a month; Max, up to 1,500 a month. These renew monthly.

Prices are shown in the app before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before that period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting your CareerHawk account does not cancel the subscription; cancel it with Apple so you aren’t charged again. Refunds are handled by Apple.

Allowances are a maximum: only applications actually submitted count, and how many we can send depends on how many suitable jobs there are for your profile. Unused applications don’t carry over to the next period. Subscriptions are offered under our Terms of Use and Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Résumé auto-fill with AI

Only with your permission. When you upload a résumé, the app offers an “Auto-fill my details with AI” checkbox, which is off by default. If you tick it, the text of your résumé is sent to OpenAI, a third-party AI service, to pull out your name, contact details, work history and skills. Those details come back to you as suggestions to check and correct before anything is saved. If you leave it unticked, nothing is sent to OpenAI and you type your details in yourself.

OpenAI handles that text under its own privacy policy.

Who else handles your data

  • Railway hosts our server and database, where your account, profile, saved and applied jobs and résumé are stored. Like any host, it keeps short-lived technical logs of requests to the server, such as IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
  • Hetzner hosts the server that fills in applications when you use auto-apply. It holds a working copy of your profile and résumé while applying.
  • Apple processes subscription payments and sends us signed records of purchases, renewals, cancellations and refunds so your plan stays up to date.
  • Resend delivers our emails to you (verification and password-reset codes), so it sees your email address.
  • OpenAI processes your résumé text, only if you allow AI auto-fill, as described above.
  • Google (Firebase and Google Ads) receives app statistics as described in “App statistics” above, to count installs, show how the app is used and measure our own install campaigns. It never receives your name, email, profile, answers or résumé, nor your advertising identifier.
  • Employers and their application systems (such as Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable and SmartRecruiters) receive the applications you submit yourself or ask CareerHawk to submit.

Job listings come from public job boards and company careers pages. CareerHawk shows each job’s details inside the app. “Open application” takes you to that employer’s or board’s website, which has its own privacy policy.

Stored on your phone

Your sign-in token is kept in the iOS Keychain. Recently loaded job listings and any unfinished onboarding answers are kept in the app’s own storage so it opens quickly and doesn’t lose your progress. Deleting your account clears these too. If you use the app as a guest, your chosen technologies and your saved and applied jobs are also kept there; deleting the app removes them.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your data while your account exists. You can delete everything at any time from the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. That permanently deletes your account, all your profile answers, your saved and applied jobs, your auto-apply history and your uploaded résumé from our servers straight away, and clears what the app stored on your phone. It can’t be undone. Applications already sent to employers remain with those employers. Copies in our hosting provider’s routine database backups, if any, are removed as those backups expire.

You can also ask us to delete your data, or for a copy of it, by emailing daudisam007@gmail.com from the address on your account.

Your choices

  • Use the app without an account at all.
  • See and change your details any time on the Profile tab.
  • Skip any question that isn’t needed to match jobs; only your tech stack is required to browse.
  • Upload a résumé without AI auto-fill, or skip the résumé entirely.
  • Never use auto-apply; it only runs when you start the free applications yourself or subscribe to a plan.

Security

All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as hashes, sign-in attempts are rate-limited, and your profile, résumé and tracked jobs are available only to your own signed-in account. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect what you trust us with.

Children

CareerHawk is for people aged 18 and over who are looking for work, and isn’t directed at children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If what CareerHawk collects or how it’s used changes, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
